Skincare Chronicles: Navigating Sensitive, Dry, and Acne-Prone Skin

Skin Care Journey By: u/Uallcanchoke

My Current Routine and Journey with Tretinoin ✨

A Little About My Skin

I have always struggled with dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin, making it a challenge to find the perfect routine. With post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and a tendency to react to products, my skincare journey has been one of careful experimentation and adaptation. Currently, I am on Tretinoin 0.025%, as per my dermatologist’s suggestion. I started using it three times a week and have now built up to every alternate night.

Along the way, I have tested multiple sunscreens (happy to share reviews if you’re interested) and incorporated products that focus on hydration, repair, and acne control. Here’s what my routine looks like:

Morning Routine ☀️

I keep my morning routine minimal to avoid over-stripping my skin. Since my skin leans towards dryness, I often skip washing my face in the morning unless necessary.

  • Cleanser (if needed): Cosrx Low pH Gel Cleanser – A gentle, non-stripping face wash that I use only when my skin feels like it needs a refresh.
  • Toner: Cosrx Propolis Synergy Toner – Helps soothe my skin while providing a hydration boost.
  • Essence: Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence – A staple in my routine for hydration and skin repair. 🐌
  • Sunscreen: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun – Offers hydration and protection without irritation, making it my go-to sunscreen. ☀️

Night Routine 🌙

My nighttime routine focuses on repair, hydration, and targeted treatments.

  • Serum: Numbuzin No.2 Protein Serum – Helps with barrier support and hydration.
  • Moisturizer: Oryza Skin Repair and Restore Lotion – Lightweight yet deeply nourishing, ideal for my sensitive skin.
  • Occlusive: Boroline – I use this as a slugging balm to lock in moisture, especially on drier areas. 💧
  • Spot Treatment: Earth Rhythm Acne Spot Correcting Gel – Works wonders on my nose and chin for whiteheads and closed comedones. ✨

On weekends, I treat myself to I’m From Ginseng Mask for a boost of antioxidants and skin rejuvenation. 🍃

Upcoming Additions

I’m planning to introduce Azelaic Acid into my routine to tackle PIH and inflammation. Additionally, I’ll be incorporating two more serums to further refine my skincare approach.

Skincare is a journey, and I’m always on the lookout for better ways to support my skin’s needs. Have you tried any of these products, or do you have recommendations? Let’s chat in the comments! 😊💖
